School

St. Francis' Catholic Primary School opened in 1979 with a roll of 48 pupils. We celebrated our Silver Jubilee in 2004. The official ceremony of dedication to St. Francis of Assisi was conducted by the Right Reverend Mervyn Alexander, D.D., Bishop of Clifton, on the feast of St. Francis, 4th October 1980. The school has continued to grow steadily and is now well established, serving the parishes of St. Francis Nailsea, and The Immaculate Conception, Clevedon.

The school is sited in a quiet residential area and enjoys a pleasing aspect. The low level, honey-coloured building is situated in pleasant green grounds that include a large variety of mature trees, a lovely playing field, a pergola, pond and wildlife area. There are two hard play areas for the children with additional climbing frames and play equipment. The building has been constructed around a central courtyard that is used as a growing area by Reception pupils. It comprises an assembly hall, seven classrooms, an ICT suite, library, additional areas for practical activities and music and an outdoor learning area for Reception and Year 1 pupils.

Our school aims are stated in the Mission Statement through which, we endeavour to provide a high standard of education for the children of Catholic and other practising Christian families, within the school’s catchment area.
