School

St. Francis' Catholic Primary School opened in 1979 with a roll of 48 pupils. We celebrated our Silver Jubilee in 2004. The official ceremony of dedication to St. Francis of Assisi was conducted by the Right Reverend Mervyn Alexander, D.D., Bishop of Clifton, on the feast of St. Francis, 4th October 1980. The school has continued to grow steadily and is now well established, serving the parishes of St. Francis Nailsea, and The Immaculate Conception, Clevedon.

The school is situated in tree-lined grounds, which have been landscaped and planned in a most pleasing manner. A sports field lies to the rear of the building and there are two paved play areas. The school building houses an assembly hall, seven classrooms each with an interactive whiteboard, a role-play area, practical areas for various activities, music room and a library. In the centre of the building is situated an ICT suite containing twenty-three networked computers, with full internet facilities. There is also an outdoor paved courtyard. Great efforts have been made by the staff , parents and governors to bring the fabric of the building to the highest standards. Our most recent improvements have been a bicycle shed, purchase of large playground equipment and an all weather pathway linking the school to the nearby Trendlewood estate.

Our school aims are stated in the Mission Statement through which, we endeavour to provide a high standard of education for the children of Catholic and other practising Christian families, within the school’s catchment area.
