Information for parents to support teaching in class:
Our aim in Religious Education is to lead the children to a living faith through prayer, the Mass, the RE Programme, collective worship, school assemblies and the liturgical life of the Church.
As guided by the Diocese of Clifton, we follow the "God Matters" scheme to teach RE. This consists of 10 themes throughout the year, guided by the Church's calendar. The ten themes are
Creation
Prayers, Saints and Feasts
Advent
Christmas
Revelation
Lent
Holy Week
Easter
Pentecost and Mission
Sacraments
Each topic explores Scripture, our response to its teachings and Church tradition.
Whole school or key stage assemblies take place each week and each class is responsible for preparing and leading Masses and other Liturgies during the year. Our children also study and celebrate other faiths to create an understanding and respect of other peoples’ beliefs.
